A Chosen Faith: Introduction to and History of Unitarian Universalism
Book group facilitated by Crystal Colter (Next Class: May 11)

In this monthly class, we will read A Chosen Faith by John Buehrens and Forrest Church. We will read a few chapters for each class and learn more about the principles and history of Unitarian Universalism together. Interestingly, one of the authors, John Buehrens, served as minister of TVUUC in Knoxville in the 1970s, went on to become president of the Unitarian Universalist Association (1993-2001), and currently serves as minister of the First Parish in Needham, MA. This class meets on 2nd Sundays at 10:30a at Southland Books (part of the UU Loafers event from 10-12) through May 11. Copies of the book are available by mail order through the UUA bookstore. For more information, please contact Crystal Colter at maryvillepsychprof@yahoo.com or 982-6773.

Yoga
Facilitated by Jessie Thistlegrove - Next Class on 4/6/08 at 12:30 (at the Everett Center)

Yoga is vigilance, awareness, and stillness of the mind. Yoga frees you from the drama, the tragedy, the saga your mind creates and allows you to experience your True Self. The word yoga can best be translated as "union" or "yoke of divine bliss." By studying yoga and developing our practice, we receive strength, endurance, and flexibility to live gracefully in our challenging world. All levels welcome. Please bring a yoga mat.

Facilitator Jessie Thistlegrove is a graduate of New College of California with a degree in Art and Social Change. She has been a student of many different teachers of yoga (including hatha, kundalini, kripalu, and free-form) over the past fifteen years and wishes to deepen her practice by sharing the mind-body wisdom she has integrated along the way. Contact Jessie at emeraldshivers@yahoo.com.
